P5M fund for your “new normal” solution idea

If you have a brilliant idea that can help us cope with the “new normal” brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, the government is willing to give away up to P5M to fund it.

According to the office of Department of Science & Technology (DOST) Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara, the following themes can be covered: 

  1. Sustainable supply and logistics:  redesigning the movement of supply and creating a resilient value chain and logistics network
  2. Product of the new normal: reevaluating the wants and needs and developing more resilient products that fit the post-Covid "normal" 
  3. Reinventing the workplace: developing solutions, practices, tools that will aid companies to cope with the needed changes in the workplace
  4. Services that transcend boundaries: engineering tools and innovative solutions that can protect clients from health hazards

The DOST has also set seven priority sectors for this special research grant: 

  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Natural products
  • Medical devices
  • Information communication technology (ICT)
  • Innovative food industries
  • Animal health and livestock
  • Plants and crops

Take note of the timeline:

  • September 1, 2020- start of project implementation
  • December 1, 2020- development of the prototype
  • March 31, 2021- minimum viable product
  • June 30, 2021 - pilot testing.
